Corporate Team Building exercise: American Club comes to The Artppies!

On the first of July, we had the opportunity to facilitate a Team Building exercise for the American Club. A total of 31 people attended this activity and the sheer amount of enthusiasm and inspiration that was crammed into the studio was amazing!
Four people to a canvas, all the teams were briefed on the day's mission: to paint their impression of the American Club. Soon, all teams were working together to brainstorm, pool their talents and unleash their creativity onto canvas! Although given only a short period of time to conceptualize their masterpieces, all the teams were eager to get started and show the rest just what they were capable of.

Each team had to present their painting to the others... and it was quite telling what some teams held near and dear!

To some, the American Club represented diversity and friendship. They expressed themselves with rainbows, the hats (roles and responsiblities!) they wear, a parade of familiar smiles...

Some were a little more tongue-in-cheek with their interpretation...

To others, the American Club meant respect and happiness...

But one and all have to agree that the American Club is one with a big heart...

And a whole lotta love!

All in all, it was a enjoyable day well spent with new friends made and new skills learnt. Most important, through their team building efforts, they proved to each other and themselves that even with the constraints of space and time, they were fully capable of producing such stunning and distinct works of art. A truly enjoyable and meaningful session!

Family of fox

Charissa is a great supporter of art jamming. Her children Michael, Chiara and Luca love art and painting, so naturally the artppies is a great place for the family to enjoy.

Last week was a busy week for Charissa. She scheduled and arranged the children come painting for their garndfather's 70th birthday gifts and as well as for their father as Father's Day presents.

Here are the great paintings that the kids had done for their grandfather, each of the pieces express their thoughts and care for their loving grandfather. Charissa sms to us after the Birthday party:
" My dad loves all the paintings by the kids for his 70th birthday present! They were presented to him on Sat at the party by the kids themselves in front of about 50+ guests who were amazed. Michael was so proud of his painting that he walked around amongst the table showing everyone the details in his masterpiece. he was also very proud of his little sister & brother's paintings & brought them round to show everyone...Michael said in his speech" For your birthday Gong Gong, Chiara, Luca and I each made you something so special that you can't even buy it from the shops!"

In Charissa's note to us, the summary says it all: " Dad's guests thought that it was a brilliant idea to give something so creative, original and meaningful as a present to a loved one.

Two days after finished the paintings for the grandfather, the 3 kids and Charissa herself came back to paint for Father's day. This time round, they decided to paint foxes as the nickname of the husband and father is "Fox".
Each of them did a painting of fox on their own expression. They plan to put up all paintings on a wall and named themselves "the family of fox". What a cool idea!

Here are the babies' foxes:

This is Mummy's fox:

In Charissa's note to us:
" My husband Mark absolutely LOVED all the paintings of foxes & was very impressed by all of them! My family were amazed by my fox & are encouraging me to paint more. Thanks for your guidance - now you've got me hooked on painting! :-) "

Family art jamming fun with the Takai family

The Takai family visit us regularly. On 31st June, Daddy (Mr Kazu Takai) and Mommy (Kaori Takai) brought Ryo and Nanami to art jam with us again. But this time, the session turned out to be a quite different experience.

Normally, Mr. and Mrs Takai would only accompany their kids to paint. Today, they decided to have brunch from Relish in the studio before starting the session.

During brunch, Mr. and Mrs Takai were encouraged to paint something as well during their wait. And Ryo thought that it was a great idea? Hmm...

After a good meal, they decided to take up their first Art Jam session challenge!

Daddy and Mommy decided to each paint a portrait of the 2 kids. We took pictures of Ryo and Nanami separately to serve as a guide for painting. (They are so cute! )

Since this is Kazu and Kaori first time painting, they were a bit nervous at the beginning, but not before long they were so engrossed and into their painting. We can see that they are definitely enjoying every step very much. Little Nanami was very very happy that her parent painting along with her!

And here are the final paintings. Looking great, isn't it?

After the session, Kaori emailed a very encouraging note to us:
"In last lesson not only my children but also I and my husband enjoyed very much."

There were a total of 18 adult jammers and 2 junior jammers (Of course they were here just for the painting fun).

Here is the youngest jammer - Hannah.

This is the setting for the night:

Everyone enjoyed the wine and chat until about 8pm when the artistic mood took over and everyone got ready to art jam!

The event ended at about 11pm and everyone had a great time painting and enjoying wine together.
